Language Schools in Türkiye

Turkish is the official language of Turkey under Article 3 of its constitution; Kurdish is widely used and several minority languages are recognised (as published by Wikipedia on 2026-10-17). Turkish courses for foreigners are mainly offered by university Turkish teaching centres (TOMER) and the Yunus Emre Institute.

Studying a language in Türkiye

Yunus Emre Institute

As published by the Yunus Emre Institute on 2026-10-17: it is a Turkish cultural organisation with centres abroad; its Turkish teaching section lists teacher training, materials, an online Turkish course and the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), which has a certificate verification system. official source

TOMER visa and residence information (one university centre)

As published by Ankara Social Sciences University TOMER on 2026-10-17: applicants abroad need an acceptance letter from TOMER and must apply for a Turkce Dil Kursu (Turkish language course) visa rather than a study visa; without that visa a residence permit cannot be obtained, and the centre says it does not guarantee approval. This is one centre's statement: check the Turkish consulate serving you and the official migration authority, rules change. official source
